On TV hospital dramas, they don’t talk much about dentistry in the emergency room scenes — but that doesn’t mean dental emergencies don’t happen. They do. We of the dental profession just take care of them in the same place we take care of all our other patient needs. For us, that means right here in our Aria Dental office. When you have an emergency, call us right away. Even if we’re booked up, we’ll find a place in the schedule for you.
Dental Services
A dental emergency is any situation involving dental pain, injury, or damage that requires prompt professional attention to relieve severe pain, stop ongoing bleeding, or save a tooth. Common emergencies include: a knocked-out tooth, a severe toothache or abscess, a broken or cracked tooth causing pain, a lost crown or filling that exposes a sensitive tooth, a dental injury from an accident or sports impact, or swelling in the face or jaw that may indicate a spreading infection. If you’re unsure whether your situation qualifies as an emergency, call us. We’d rather you call and find out it can wait than wait and find out it couldn’t.
When you call Aria Dental of Annapolis with a dental emergency, our team will assess your situation over the phone and get you in as quickly as possible — even on short notice. We offer an $80 Emergency Limited Exam and X-ray so Dr. Daniel can evaluate what’s happening and determine the right course of treatment. Depending on the nature of the emergency, treatment may be provided the same day or scheduled as a follow-up. We do not accept Medicaid or other state insurance at this time. If you have a knocked-out tooth, handle it by the crown (not the root), keep it moist in milk or your saliva, and call us immediately — time is critical for saving a tooth.
We keep time in our schedule for emergencies. When you call in pain, we make every effort to see you the same day — not next week.
Whether your emergency involves infection, a broken tooth, or a lost restoration, our goal is to address the source of your pain as promptly and comfortably as possible.
A cracked tooth left untreated can split. An abscess left untreated can spread. Prompt emergency care stops problems at the earliest — and most treatable — stage.
Call Aria Dental of Annapolis at (410) 280-5370 immediately if you experience: severe, persistent toothache that is not relieved by over-the-counter pain medication; a knocked-out or partially dislodged tooth; a tooth that is cracked or broken and causing significant pain; an abscess or swelling in your mouth, face, or neck; bleeding from the mouth that will not stop; a lost filling or crown that is causing pain or sensitivity; or any dental injury from an accident or trauma. We offer an $80 Emergency Limited Exam and X-ray. Do not wait and hope the pain goes away — dental problems rarely resolve on their own and almost always get worse with time.
Why Choose Us
At Aria Dental of Annapolis, Dr. Nicholas Daniel and Dr. Lisa Daniel have built a practice around one simple belief: every patient deserves to feel like a person, not an appointment. From routine cleanings to full-mouth restorations, you get honest, thorough care from a team that knows your name.
Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root. If it is dirty, gently rinse with water — do not scrub. Try to reinsert it into the socket if possible and bite down gently on gauze to hold it. If you can't reinsert it, keep it moist by placing it in a container of milk, saliva, or a tooth preservation kit. Call us immediately — the sooner you get to us, the better the chance of saving the tooth.
A toothache that is severe, throbbing, constant, accompanied by swelling, fever, or a bad taste in your mouth, or not responding to over-the-counter pain relievers is a dental emergency. These symptoms often indicate an abscess or infected pulp that requires prompt treatment. A mild, occasional sensitivity can wait for a regular appointment, but when in doubt, call us.
Call us to schedule an appointment as soon as possible — the exposed tooth can be sensitive and is at risk for damage without the protective crown. In the meantime, you can temporarily protect the tooth with dental cement from the drug store or, in a pinch, a small piece of sugarless gum pressed over the tooth. Do not use super glue.
We offer an $80 Emergency Limited Exam and X-ray. This allows Dr. Daniel to evaluate your situation, identify the source of the problem, and determine the right treatment. We do not accept Medicaid or other state insurance at this time. The $80 fee covers the exam and X-ray; any treatment recommended will be discussed and priced separately.
Hospital emergency rooms can treat dental infections with antibiotics and pain medication, but they cannot perform dental procedures. For anything involving a tooth — a knocked-out tooth, a broken tooth, a lost filling, or an abscess — you need to see a dentist. Call Aria Dental of Annapolis first. We will do our best to see you the same day.
Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) can help manage pain. A cold compress applied to the outside of your cheek can reduce swelling. Avoid very hot or very cold foods and drinks. Do not place aspirin directly against the gum tissue. And call us — we want to get you out of pain as quickly as possible.
